Paint Protection Film

Paint Protection Film (PPF) or clear film, is a transparent, self-healing polyurethane film that is applied to protect the vehicles paintwork from damage. It is specifically designed to provide a durable barrier against various external elements, including stone chips, scratches, bug splatters, bird droppings, road debris, and other environmental hazards.

Paint protection film is typically made of multiple layers of thermoplastic urethane. The top layer is clear and has self-healing properties, meaning it can repair minor scratches and swirl marks by using heat or exposure to sunlight. The middle layer provides impact resistance and acts as a shock absorber to prevent dents and chips. The adhesive layer bonds the film to the vehicle's surface, and the backing layer protects the adhesive until installation

WHAT IS PPF?

Shields and protects your vehicles paintwork from these factors to preserve your vehicles paintwork and original colour keeping the paint in the original condition ultimately increasing your resale value and keeping your vehiclel looking newer longer

  • Rocks and gravel

  • Road debris

  • General abrasion and scratching

  • UV radiation that causes paint fade and discolouration

  • Oxidation and clear coat deterioration over time

  • Bird droppings

  • Bug splatter

  • Harsh environmental contaminants

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF PPF?

Self-Healing Properties: One of the notable features of paint protection film is its self-healing ability. The top layer of the film has elastic properties that allow it to recover from light scratches, swirl marks, and other minor abrasions. When exposed to heat or sunlight, the film's molecules rearrange, causing the scratches to disappear. This self-healing process helps maintain the film's transparency and prevents it from showing signs of wear and tear over time.

WHAT CAN BE PPF’D?

Paint Protection Film is easy to maintain and should be cleaned the same way as painted surfaces. Wash using clean water and a pH-neutral cleaner, then rinse thoroughly to remove dirt and residue. Dry the film with a clean microfiber towel to prevent water spots and swirl marks. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive products, or stiff brushes, as these can damage the film. Bird droppings, bug splatter, and tree sap should be removed as soon as possible using warm water or a PPF-safe, pH-neutral cleaner. With regular gentle cleaning, the film will remain clear, glossy, and continue protecting the surface for years.

HOW TO CLEAN PPF?

MATTE, SATIN OR GLOSS OR COLOURED PPF?

WARRANTY AND DURATION?

Warranty - the film offers warranty on cracking, delamination and lifting from the install for up to 10 years depending on the film chosen.

Longevity: The durability and longevity of paint protection film depend on the quality of the product, proper installation, and maintenance. High-quality films, when installed correctly, can last for several years, providing long-term protection to the vehicle's paintwork. However, it's important to note that PPF is not invulnerable and may require replacement after significant damage or wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No — ceramic coating and Paint Protection Film (PPF) are NOT the same thing.
They do very different jobs 👇

    Paint Protection Film (PPF)

    What it is:

A thick, clear polyurethane film applied over the paint.

    What it protects against:

    • ✅ Stone chips

    • ✅ Scratches

    • ✅ Road debris

    • ✅ Gravel rash

    • ✅ Swirl marks (self-healing)

    Think of it as:

    A physical armour layer.

You can literally feel it — it’s a sheet of impact-resistant film.

    Ceramic Coating

    What it is:

A liquid coating that chemically bonds to the paint.

    What it protects against:

    • ✅ UV damage

    • ✅ Oxidation

    • ✅ Chemical stains

    • ✅ Bird droppings (short term)

    • ✅ Makes washing easier

What it does NOT protect against:

    • ❌ Stone chips

    • ❌ Deep scratches

    • ❌ Heavy impact

    Think of it as:

A super hydrophobic shield for gloss and easier maintenance.

  • aint Protection Film (PPF) is a clear, ultra-durable polyurethane film applied over your vehicle’s paint to protect it from:

    • Stone chips

    • Scratches

    • Swirl marks

    • Road debris

    • UV damage

It’s basically an invisible armour layer for your paint.

  • If installed properly — no.

    High-quality PPF is:

    • Optically clear

    • Precision cut

    • Wrapped around edges where possible

On gloss paint, it looks like factory clear coat.
On satin or matte PPF, it intentionally changes the finish.

  • Cheap films can.
    Premium films have:

    • UV inhibitors

    • Anti-yellowing top coats

  • Yes — light scratches and swirl marks disappear with heat.

    Heat can come from:

    • Sunlight

    • Warm water

    • A heat gun

It won’t fix deep gouges, but everyday wash swirls? They literally vanish.

This is a powerful demo moment for videos.
